As a child he was very interested in rap and this spurned him on to begin writing lyrics, he would then perform the written raps at house parties his friends attended.

Hoodie Allen originally worked in the ADwords department in google. He would work a full day at Google and then once he returned home his focus would be on his music this would include: writing songs, keeping up communication with his fan base, scheduling concerts and then preparing for work the next day. This only stopped once the option to become a musician full time presented itself.
Hoodie Allen was originally a duo, consisting of Steve and his friend Samuel, however Samuel stopped producing for Steve in 2010 and Hoodie Allen is now just a solo artist rather than a duo.
After sampling the famous song 'I Am Not A Robot' by Marina and the Diamonds, retitling it 'You Are Not a Robot' the release was well received and reached no.1 on the Music aggregator website Hype.
Associated acts of Hoodie include: Mike Posner, The Cataracs, G-Eazy, Chiddy Bang, Chance The Rapper and many more. As he has either collaborated with said individuals, or been a part of their tours.
Hoodie Allen has been well received and after releasing his third mixtape 'Leap Year' which managed to reach 250,000 listens on soundcloud, that is a quarter of a million listens in it's first week of release he headlined a 15 stop tour in the US which included places all over America such as: New York City, San Francisco and Montreal.
In October 2014 Hoodie Allen released his Studio album 'People Keep Talking' which has currently reached no.2 on the US R&B/Hip Hop chart and also no.2 on the US rap chart.
